Able Skills provide City and Guilds and NVQ level training as well as a wide range of DIY Tiling Courses
I would not recommend ableskills to my worst enemy. Overcrowded & under staffed. The only thing there good at is taking your money.
I am just about to complete a eight week tiling course with able skills in dartford and can't sing their praises highly enough.
When i decided to undertake tiling training i made sure that i did my research very well.
I spent a few weeks deciding where i was going to train and was in a position to visit a few centres. As i needed to train over weekends as well as weekdays i looked at centres that claimed to be open 7 days a week.
I turned up at able skills unannounced on a Sunday afternoon, met the office staff and then was guided to the tiling centre.
At this stage i met the tiling instructor, explained to him my aims and from then on was given guidance on my options.
As it's in my nature to ask lots of questions i made sure that if i was going to book a course i was going to leave feeling satisfied that i had selected the right place for me.
I was immediately impressed that the instructor was willing to spend some of his lunchtime explaining to me that he will be taught by qualified, time served instructors. At this stage he confirmed his vocational and teaching qualifications, chatted through his experiences and confirmed the centres accreditation's for qualification courses.
I took some time chatting to some of the guys training at the time, glanced at some of there portfolios that they had put together.
The instructor (MAX) even invited me to look at previous feedback from students that had trained there over the previous 5 years just in case i needed any reassurance.
I was immediately taken and booked an eight week package over weekdays and weekends even spreading my payments over the duration of the course (interest free).
Have to say that i feel that it was a great decision for myself, really going to miss the guy's when i finish next week.
Whilst i can respect any constructive criticism and matters of opinion expressed by anyone undertaking a training course i believe it is up to the individual to decide on who they use for training.
My advise to anyone wishing to undertake training is visit the center where possible!, don't make a booking just turn up
Just wanted to give a fair and balanced opinion of my experiences over the last seven weeks
thanks able skills
Yep, did a course and they were good. Was a total novice. Used my redundacy money and I really confident now.
Got my on project to work on now so that should be good practice, then I'll get our on my own. but they worked for me.
As you say - go and see them
